PIGS OF RENNES RESEARCH FARM

The research farm is located in the heart of one of the greatest farming area of France and it is close to important and recognised research units in the field of animal and human nutrition.

It lies at the interface of research on pigs and minipigs, both as livestock and as human models. It includes 2 experimental sites near to Rennes.

Research is conducted by French and European scientists on a wide variety of research topics, including:

• precision nutrition
• genetics and performance monitoring
• animal physiology and metabolism
• environment
• behaviour and well-being
• human nutrition
• surgical platforms.

The team has all the qualifications to conduct out project successfully. All experiments support internships and Ph.D.students, and our teams share results in communications and papers.

In the framework of the PIGWEB project, the following swine research installations are available:

• Experimental feed mill
• Calorimetry facility
• Precision livestock farming
