THE CREOLE BREED

THE CREOLE BREED

The Creole breed is a tropical local breed adapted to hot and harsh environmental conditions. Individual production and thermoregulation records can be monitored from the post-weaning phase until slaughter. The herd includes a total of 70 sows (7 batches of 10 sows) composed of European Large White pigs (85%) and the tropical Creole breed (15%) and we produce on average 1,400 finishing pigs per year. The infrastructure is composed of a semi-open experimental building, which follows the outside climatic changes. Inner and outer meteorological stations allow recording of environmental conditions. The semi-open building is equipped with automatic feed dispensers and nine single-space electronic feeders for growing pigs.
