GENETIC, EXPERIMENTS AND INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS

The research farm GeneSi conducts experiments in:

  • animal genetics on pigs and in pig physiology
  • pig farming systems
  • experiment into alternatives to hormonal and antibiotic treatments
  • link and transfer of knowledge to a network of breeders
  • conservation of genetic resources stored in the national cryobank for pigs and sheep
  • development of surgical techniques and organ conservation solutions that can be transferred to human clinics within the surgical platform
  • contact and partner on several projects related to alternative pig production systems.

Equipment: Restructured facilities / Automatic feed dispensers / Two surgery platforms / Alternative sow farrowing systems / Apparatus for textile fibre qualification / Automatic image analyser for fine spermatic evaluations

Know-how: Conducting complex and varied experimental programs / Surgical techniques in pigs / Expertise of the reproductive function in boar / Validation of reproductive biotechnologies (diluents...)

The pig team has all the qualifications to conduct out project successfully. The research farm is particularly qualified for animal breeding and production trait measurements during growth and at the slaughter house. It is also involved in the collection of biological samples for various experimental needs.

All experiments support internships and Ph.D.students, and our teams share results in communications and papers.

In the framework of the PIGWEB project, the following swine research installation is:
