INRAE-SRI

INRAE-SRI corresponds to Swine Research Infrastructure of the Research Institute INRAE involved in the PIGWEB Project.

The INRAE-SRI is located in three installations:

  1. PIGS OF RENNES RESEARCH FARM GENETICS in Rennes (Brittany in France);
  2. GENETICS, EXPERIMENTS AND INNOVATIVE SYSTEMS in the Magneraud (Poitou-Charentes in France);
  3. TROPICAL PLATFORM OF EXPERIMENTS ON ANIMAL in Petit-Bourg (Guadeloupe in French West Indies).

The INRA swine research infrastructure offers services to 3 installations for experimental studies using i) Experimental feed mill ; ii) Calorimetry facilities; iii) Precision livestock farming ; iv) Breeds and selected lines of pigs; v) tropical local breed: the Creole breed.
The three INRAE-SRI installations provide all the technical and scientific support required to realize experimental activities. The design of the experiments and follow-up can mostly be done off-site without physical presence of the beneficiary. However, for experiments at the calorimetry installation, physical presence of the beneficiary is required for several weeks to ensure training in the analysis and interpretation of the results.

All of the INRAE installations are approved for animal experimentation by the French Ministry of education and research. Depending on the type of experiment, an authorization from the Ministry may be required (including ethical approval). This application will be applied for by INRA staff in concertation with the beneficiary.

In the framework of the PIGWEB Project, the INRAE-SRI ensure the access of research teams and users from the private sector from across the EU to our infrastructures.
